5 out of 5 stars Heavenly dream pop from start to finish   August 8, 2009

Adam Young's Owl City project has once again produced an album of superior dream pop that brims over with upbeat, feel-good vibes. Vocally, it sounds like Scritti Politti using autotune - lightweight, rather unemotional singing that works brilliantly with the electronic production. What makes it poignant is that although the vocals sound heavily computerised, the lyrics themselves very much focus on nature and the world around us (with many references to the sky, icebergs, breezes, waves, meteor showers etc). Standout tracks are the euphoric 'On The Wing' and the delicate 'Fireflies'. 'Umbrella Beach' is a faster, more bass-driven track that delivers an upflifting rush of a chorus. It's a lovely album that feels like a breath of fresh air - optimistic, celebratory synth pop.

A really amazing album, clever lyrics and cheery catchy tunes make this an awesome album for any occassion.
Made even better Vinyl with softer, warmer sounds.

5 out of 5 stars Great   February 26, 2010

Love pretty much the whole album, just a couple of tracks I don't like as much as the rest. Much better than I though it would be. Recommended if you like easy listening and nice tunes.

Owl City is back with another album and it has hit the public with a bang! The anticipation has been overwhelming and it is finally here. All Owl City fans including me from the beginning have been very excited for the new album and have been extremely satisfied!!! Each song brings out Adam's genius, lyrical almost poetic talents accompanied by many many instruments creating an exciting ride song after song! there are a few returning favorites that come back altered a little. These include "on the Wing", "Hello Seattle", and "Saltwater room" and also included, a "Hello Seattle remix." Other songs included singing about the Dentist and taking care of your teeth in "Dental Care." There are a few love-y type songs included in this album including "The Bird and the Worm" and a favorite, "Vanilla Twilight" with words saying, "the spaces between my fingers are right where yours fit perfectly." Of course the single from this album "Fireflies" has proven to be a public favorite as well with lyrics fantasizing about lightning bugs dancing, hugging and lighting up the sky. Since Owl City's earlier albums "of June and "Maybe I'm Dreaming" his magical lyrics have stuck out and that is what I seem to notice the most. His powerful and playful lyrics grab your imagination and create an overall Happy feeling when listening to his songs. This is a must have CD that will take you on a wonderful adventure and you will not regret it!
