Rich in high-quality! Hail the new blood! February 7, 2010 R. Wood 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
So, we're back to the exclusive `download only' format for WWE Soundtracks, are we? In the past, I'd thought it a daft venture when they released Volume 7 exclusively on iTunes. It limited the marketing on that album and the fact that it didn't have that great a list of songs made it rather weak overall.
This time round, however...I welcome the notion of making Volume 10: A New Day download only for three reasons. One: downloads have really become popular and successful in the music industry. Two: I REALLY love playing music on my iPod. And three: making the album exclusive to Amazon this time makes it more accessible and appealing, thanks to the improved promotion.
"A New Day" is a fitting sub-title for WWE The Music: Volume 10. WWE has really gone into overdrive these days with pushing and creating new stars for the business. And that theme has been carried forward onto this album, the majority of themes belonging to wrestlers/characters who have really broken out and become forces to be reckoned with. Meaning that Volume 10 is just so fresh to listen to. And it is also the best soundtrack album that WWE has put together in a LONG time.
Naturally, master composer and WWE's own Jim Johnston is on hand with his magic, but his collaboration with other artists REALLY does help make this collection outstanding. Yes, Johnston has worked with outside musicians in previous albums but the joint-effort here for the songs has had SUCH an impact on me, in a way no other collection has (e.g. Forceable Entry, Wreckless Intent, Volumes 6 and 9).
Of the fourteen tracks, the first SIX are simply perfect pieces that truly merit playing again and again. They all reflect the characters perfectly and are rollickingly good. Legacy's new theme "It's A New Day", Dolph Ziggler's "I Am Perfection", and The Miz's new "I Came To Play" can all equally be considered masterpieces, and the same can certainly be said for WWE Champion Sheamus' "Written In My Face". With the return of ECW Champion Christian and the legendary Bret "Hitman" Hart to the company, we have brand new versions of their old themes. Christian's old "Just Close Your Eyes" is done by Story Of The Year this time and packs more energy and soul into it than the original by Waterproof Blonde. "Return The Hitman" is the only track here that Jim Johnston has composed by himself and he's really put together an excellent modern version of Bret's classic "Hitman" theme. It's a faithful recreation of a timeless entrance theme and captures the spirit, heroism and joy of Bret's return to the company.
As for the rest of the album, there's hardly a bad thing to say. They range from `very good' to `excellent'. Evan Bourne's "Born To Win" and the Hart Dynasty's "New Foundation" are absolutely terrific. Tiffany's "Insatiable", The Bella Twins' "You Can Look - But You Can't Touch", Zack Ryder's "Radio", Primo's "Oh Puerto Rico" and Big Show/Chris Jericho's "Crank The Walls Down" are all good enough to earn their place. Even Ezekiel Jackson's "Domination" merits good listening, despite it being essentially the old "Brawl For All" theme with Evan Jones' vocals.
Now...how did I find purchasing the downloads? I found it simple and much more smoother and quicker than even iTunes, thanks to Amazon's free MP3 Downloader. And the overall sound quality of the downloads was just so clean and crisp. Making this all the more of a recommended purchase.
Again, WWE The Music Volume 10: A New Day is just so fresh. After previous albums having the themes of John Cena, Batista, Randy Orton, Undertaker etc released again and again, it makes for a great change to have WWE getting behind new faces (mostly). The fact that the songs here are either classic, excellent or very good is a positive boon. I would definitely call Volume 10 essential, for fans and rock lovers alike.
MUSIC VOLUME 10 March 4, 2010 Mr. K. Watts (UK) Great album, there's some really good tracks on here and classic entrance themes. The only bad track insatiable (Tiffany). Apart from that well worth the buy. If your a WWE fan, GET IT !!!! :)
WWE the music, vol 10 March 3, 2010 Xubbi the squeeky rat (Sutton, Surrey, UK) Downloaded for my son; I have it on good authority that it's 'really' good and gets a 10/10. All new music.
The best WWE cd ever! January 31, 2010 Mr. Shane Dabrowski (Willenhall, United Kingdom) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
WWE have finally released an awesome cd from start to finish. This has a load of unreleased tracks, and a mix of awesome tunes. This is cheaper on amazon.com at $3.99 (MP3 album) - thats where I got mine from. This is a must buy for any WWE fan, or rock/metal fans as there is some awesome tracks on here.
Not the best selection of themes February 3, 2010 KM (England) Although this is not the best selection of entrance themes from the current roster of WWE superstars (most of the better ones are featured on the previous CDs), it is extremely up to date, including the new theme for The Miz, Sheamus, Bret "Hitman" Hart and Ezekiel Jackson, all of which they have only started using. My favourites on the album have to be Christian, Big Show & Jericho and Legacy.
This is a good selection if you're adding the themes to your collection, otherwise I'd perhaps buy one of the previous CDs if you're after the themes for Randy Orton, John Cena, Edge, Rey Mysterio and Batista etc.
