PQ not bad June 27, 2009 David E. Hamilton (Scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The picture quality is better than I expected-due to bad "reviews" of this movie. Some scenes are better than others, but for a 25 year old "movie" the picture quality is good. Would recommend.
This is the unrated version of "cammando"
"DONT DISTURB MY FRIEND HE'S DEAD TIRED" July 18, 2010 Paul J. Jackson (UK) First of all the 1st review on this page is incorrect COMMANDO on Blu Ray is UNCUT compared to the standard DVD version its the U.S.THEATRICAL CUT which runs at 88 mins, the standard DVD runs at 85 mins. So COMMANDO fans we get to eventually see the TOOL SHED scene UNCUT -eg GARDEN FORK, PICKAXE, SAW BLADES & arm chopped off with MACHETTE... So picture quality is a step above the normal DVD, It still has grain visible but what can you expect the ACTION CLASSIC is 25 years old.. The sound quality is also good for the age of the film.. I can remember renting COMMANDO back in 86 and what an IMPACT it had "i loved it" Arnie is FANTASTIC, Full of ACTION & DARK HUMOUR, An 80's CLASSIC. "GO & BUY NOW"
Good Blu-ray for Commando October 23, 2009 Dr T 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The other reviewers have laid out a wide spectrum of opinion about the film and the transfer. In my opinion it's a classic 80s action flick the like of which we are unlikely to ever see again in the coming decades and the transfer is actually very healthy. The picture quality is detailed, but I imagine the original cinematography flattened the image, so it lacks the latest HD 'pop'. The audio too is solid and hits hard during explosions, gunfire etc. The dialogue is clear. After getting this I was impressed enough to later buy it for a friend who'd just got a Blu-ray player. Highly recommended.
I Let Him Go July 23, 2009 Gianni Vasco 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Picture Quality: 7/10
I can't be too harsh with the film as its 24 yrs old but they did a good job on the whole with this, one great thing that the film takes up the whole screen with no borders. There is a certain level of grain in certain scenes but not so heavy. The detail is excellent during most action sequences & fair in others though the trailer is not in 1080p. It is the uncut version.
Sound Quality: 8.5/10
The speech level was very good & during the action scenes the DTS was excellent. The bass was used well with the soundtrack score rich & clear.
Features 0/10: Just trailers of other films & Commando though all in SD

Worth buying on Blu-ray if you love this film May 29, 2009 Bill Shakespeare (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all, despite what some reviews say this is a step up in quality from the DVD. I was pleasantly surprised when I finally watched the BD after what some people had said. It's a vintage Fox title, so we're in Die Hard, Predator territory in terms of BD image quality. I compared it to the Region 1 directors cut of Commando and it was no contest. The directors cut being only standard def looked very soft in comparison to the BD. The BD contains the old uncut version. If you want to watch Commando this BD is offers the best image and sound quality of the film. The directors cut adds a bit of extra blood in the tool shed scene and something else between Matrix and Cindy, but it doesn't really change anything. I'm just as happy watching the theatrical cut. I've watched the BD three times now, that's how much I've been enjoying this Blu-ray.
