Easy, Quick, Cheap and Delicious Recipes, PERFECT! January 19, 2009 looby.lu (Lancashire, UK) 93 out of 93 found this review helpful
This series of books is so handy, they are in a much smaller format than your usual celeb cookbooks so you can pop them in your bag and take them to the supermarket with you. The recipes are easy to follow, with a full colour picture for each one, and don't require any complicated techniques or hard to source ingredients. I would highly recommend them if you are first time cook, they really give you the confidence that you can produce what is pictured! This one is perfect for couples, but it is also easy to double up the quantities for families. Favourite Recipes so far are Honey Glazed Chicken (just 4 ingredients, that's my kind of recipe!) and Italian Style Beef Stew (no cooking for 3 hours here, this one is ready in half an hour, including prep!)
Excellent cook book! July 7, 2009 E. Rice (Edinburgh) 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
Having used the BBC GoodFood website many a time as a reliable source for recipes, i thought it would be a good idea to buy a few of their books.
This particular book is excellent, easy to follow and very clear, lots of lovely recipes with nice ingredients and photos too!
One dish i can highly recommend is the Thai-style steamed Trout......it is beeeeautiful!...and only costs around a fiver to make!
The days are over where i would spend £20 on a Ramsay-Rhodes-Rankin-or Nigella book... they're just not worth it, these little books are ace!
Makes you hungry just looking at it! August 31, 2009 Alison (Derbyshire, UK) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
As the title suggests, these are 101 recipes that are designed for two people and therefore all the quantities and cooking times are right for 2 servings.
The recipes are arranged into:
Starters, Salads and Snacks
Simple Suppers on the Run
Special-Occasion Meals
Veggie-Friendly Dishes
Low-Fat & Healthy
Something Sweet
Each recipe is clearly presented on the left hand page with a full page photograph of the results on the facing page. Nutritional information for each serving is included (cals, protein, carbs, fat, saturated fat, fibre, salt and sugar). The photographs are all excellent and instructions for each recipe are brief but clear and easy to follow.
There are a real variety of simple and quick things that can be made with storecupboard ingredients to more complicated dishes that take more preparation and cooking time.
Highly recommended for busy people who just want to make easy and delicious recipes that you know will work giving you a meal that looks just like the gorgeous photographs!
Good Recipes - excellent value November 14, 2008 sd Adams 43 out of 46 found this review helpful
Cooking for two is harder than you think. First of all, we don't mind splashing the cash for an eight people get together, or even a family sunday roast, but how much do you actually want to spend on you and your other half on a wednesday night.
This book will help you eat well and save money. The recipes are basic in terms of technique but never bland and boring.
I highly recommend it.
