great insight February 2, 2010 D. L. Sidnick 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm starting my own business, but do have some prior marketing experience. This book was really excellent - a real A-Z which would help someone new and also an experienced person (a difficult feat to achieve both!). Great bedtime reading
Everything you need to know about marketing....... brilliant!! June 19, 2009 H. Barratt (UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a must for anyone in sales and marketing, covering everything from design through to writing a detailed marketing plan. It is so comprehensive that you will not need another marketing book.
The tips are superb and there are some really useful link references that are worth looking up.
Unlike any other business book Hall grips you with his knowledge of the subject and insatiable energy.
It has made me excited to go to work and get stuck in.
Comprehensive, engaging and invaluable June 17, 2009 Nick Fitzherbert (UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I really wish Richard Hall had been writing his books 30 years ago when I was first studying marketing. Back then I was issued with a book called `Marketing made simple'; it wasn't particularly simple, it was a hard slog and completely un-memorable. Hall's new book, by comparison could be called `Marketing made human' because it draws you in and brings all the principles alive with compelling stories told in a truly engaging tone.
Two further aspects make this book stand out. First, it is about the most `complete' book on marketing you are likely to find - there can be very few people with such comprehensive knowledge. Second, while Hall's vast experience shows through on every page, it is equally balanced with a real hunger for knowledge on what is happening now and what is likely to be coming next. Again, it's rare to get both sides from the same writer.
Great marketing know-how from a real professional. June 15, 2009 C. J. ARNOLD-BAKER (Marlborough, UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This new book from Richard Hall has a wealth of marketing information and case studies of some of the great campaigns of all time. It is wittily written, yet covers the subject with serious intent.
Richard Hall is clearly a lifelong marketeer, who has worked on both sides of the table, both running the brands, and leading major advertising agencies - and it shows.
A great read - highly recommended.
Great read August 27, 2010 C. Shaw (London, UK) I bought the book hoping to get an introduction to the ideas and concepts of marketing and it has been perfect for this purpose. If you want to get into marketing then the author gives you lots of ways to start investigating, thinking and working on your product or brand. I usually hate reading non-fiction books but this one is really well written, exciting and totally easy to get through. A good buy.
